Below you will see our family diary. We wanted you to be able to see a history of how our family is doing. We hope it is informative to you.

I have just finished updating the website. Substantial changes were made as you have seen. Life goes on and I believe Debbie wants us to go on also. I am now doing 7 miles a day and lifting weights three to four days a week. It is made a substantial difference as I am beginning to lose weight again. Margaux is really enjoying her job. We went and saw the movie The Great Debaters on Saturday night. We highly recommend it to anyone. Sunday night I went to Margaux's for dinner. She's a great cook.

Today I awoke about 3:30 a.m. and could not go back to sleep. I finally got up and decided to go to work. I have been working on getting my records ready to take to Houston on Monday. As I was making file tabs I ran out of supplies so I had to go to Office Depot. So I went there and then went on to work out. After working out I went and had a bite of lunch and picked up Rudy and went to have a hole in my tire fixed on my car. On the way back to the office I received a call from the insurance company who needed to inspect the house. So I met the inspector for about 30 minutes and then went to the office. I did billing for the month and then continue to work on what I call my health notebook. Margaux came over this evening and we went through all the remaining closets and drawers of Debbie's clothes. We divided them into spring resale, fall resale and goodwill. Now that part is finished. Margaux and I then went to Bodean's for appetizers and salad.
12/26/2007 1:45:00 PM
On Christmas Eve I met Jeannie for lunch. Margaux and I went to church at 5:30 p.m. and then went to Leslie King's house for chili. We made Santa calls from there. On Christmas morning Margaux came over and about 10 a.m. and we exchanged presents. We then went to the Wilson's for brunch and more presents. We spent part of the afternoon there and then Margaux left for Norman. So it was a pretty quiet Christmas.
12/21/2007 9:09:00 AM
The last week has been very busy. On Saturday the 15th we celebrated Brandon's first birthday in the United States. It was held at Celebration Station. It is really an impressive place. Everybody had a good time especially the young boys. Sunday was a pretty quiet day. Monday and Tuesday for spent doing the normal routine Wednesday morning the water pump blew on my Jeep just as I was pulling in the dealership. That is also the day I spent four hours at the Cancer Treatment Center of America. Yesterday I spent quite a bit of time at the office. Margaux and Dusty spent the day Christmas shopping and came over for dinner. We had pizza and watched the Oklahoma State game and the OU game.
12/14/2007 2:43:00 PM
Yesterday I worked at the office in the morning and in the yard for the afternoon. I finished cleaning up the small branches and removing other debris. The city really does look like a hurricane hit it. Trees look like they were just snapped off. Last night I had dinner and went home and got in my sleeping bag. It really was quite comfortable and I slept all night. Margaux spent the night at Vicky’s. Margaux still does not have power at her house either. I spent this morning at the office, and did some cardio at the gym, and had lunch. This afternoon I am working at the office. I'm going to go home and change and take Rudy for a walk around the park as long as it doesn't start raining. The current estimate to get electricity back at the house is sometime next Tuesday.
12/12/2007 4:21:00 PM
Will events over the last week. Last Thursday I was watching the dogs and took them for a run at a park. I had checked the park out to make sure it was fenced so the boys could not get in trouble. Well they found a way through it down into a huge drainage ditch. It took me about 30 minutes to find them but I was too late. Sutton was hit by a car. The next three hours were spent at the vet while he got stitched up. He's going to be fine. The second event was our ice storm. I only lost one branch I didn't want to lose, but I lost a lot of others. I spent all day yesterday cutting and stacking the wood. We still do not have electricity and I have no idea when we will get it. Margaux is still without electricity too. We were fortunate at the office not to lose electricity therefore I've been able to work as necessary. The American Cancer Society got their electricity back today so Margaux is working. As a result of the ice storm and not having electricity I made the decision not to go to Houston until I get electricity back.
12/5/2007 2:53:00 PM
Over the last week or so very little is happening family wise. Margaux was in Oklahoma City last week for work and spent the weekend there. Daddy dog sat as usual. Megan and Aaron got back from Oregon. I have been spending a lot of time with doctors. More in my diary.
11/28/2007 2:12:00 PM
It has been over two weeks since my last entry our made into our family diary. During that time I had a birthday and we also had Thanksgiving. Margaux spent Thanksgiving in Dallas with Dusty's family. They were able to go to the Dallas Cowboys football game and sent in a skybox. She spent the rest of the weekend in Norman and came home Sunday evening. I of course got the dog sit. We had a good time. I've also been spending a lot of time with doctors and tests and doctors and tests. Margaux is really enjoying her work. Megan and Aaron got back from Oregon and are back in their daily routine.
11/12/2007 3:26:00 PM
Last week was a pretty busy week regarding tests and doctors. I had the bone scan done as well as a CAT scan. The CAT scan showed a tumor on my kidney. I had dinner Thursday night with Melanie and Brent Blackstock. We talked a lot about the situation. Friday morning I drove to Springfield for the dog show. Rudy didn’t feel well this weekend and placed third on Saturday and forth on Sunday. We drove home and arrived around 5:30 p.m. Today I have spent time getting ready to meet with the second urologist. I know Margaux went to Norman over the weekend and I haven’t talked to her since. Megan is doing fine. Hazel called and told Papa she missed him. Aaron and Hazel left for Oregon. I think Megan is going out there this weekend
11/6/2007 4:41:00 PM
Well there has been quite a few things happening over the last few days. We are sorry about the website being down because we know many people are checking. On Friday he Rudy won his class and pointed out. He now needs to win two majors in order to finish to be a champion. He’ll get two chances this weekend in Springfield, Missouri. Saturday of course was a big football day. It seemed like Thanksgiving. On Sunday I planted 300 bulbs in 200 pansies in the front flower bed. Yesterday I pretty much did research and had been the same today. Margaux spent the weekend in Stillwater with Dusty and his parents. She is coming over tonight for dinner.
10/31/2007 2:40:00 PM
Today, I had to be at St. Francis at eight o'clock for my tests. I got finished with that at noon. My office neighbors across the hall wanted to have lunch so we went to Boston Deli for a sandwich. This afternoon I am working until about five when I will take Rudy for a walk again.
10/30/2007 8:30:00 PM
Today Margaux went to Oklahoma City for work related meeting. I did my normal thing waking up early and working awhile and then going to Starbucks. While I was there one of the employees had a seizure. She was unconscious for a couple of minutes. As it turns out she had run out of a prescription she was taking and they believe that is the cause of the seizure. After I worked out this morning I had lunch and spent the afternoon at the office working. At five o'clock I took Rudy to the Fortune Park for a walk. I made chicken and rice casserole for dinner and took it to Margaux's.
10/29/2007 2:23:00 PM
A lot is happening in the last few days. Margaux's bag lady luncheon was a huge success and netted over $23,000. She is truly following in the footsteps of her mother. She is home today not feeling well with the cold. I worked up this morning and took her some soup for lunch. I have a CT and bone scans scheduled for Wednesday morning.
10/25/2007 9:22:00 AM
Yesterday was a busy day especially for Margaux. Her bag lady luncheon was a huge success and netted $23,000. Everything was perfect and she reminded me of her mother. She just did a remarkable job. During the election she announced the fact that I have prostate cancer. After lunch had an appointment with the doctor. The main thing I came away from the appointment was that I have plenty of time to deal with this. The options we talked about each have their own set of side effects, none of which I like. We will beat scheduling a CT scan and bone scan to be done within the next week or two. I also plan to visit with doctors in Houston for their opinions.
10/23/2007 9:17:00 PM
This been a very difficult last few weeks. Although I have had a desire to share it was necessary not to do so to protect my children. Approximately a month ago I had my blood work done as a result of Debbie asking me to take care of myself. I do this every six months just to make sure I'm in good shape. The results of this blood test were my PSA had tripled in approximately a one-year period of time. I have been to a urologist and we did biopsies approximately a week ago. The biopsies confirmed that I do have prostate cancer. My rating is seven which indicates a moderately aggressive cancer. That is all I know at this time. I will be having a meeting with the doctor in the next few days to learn the stage of cancer and what he feels my options are. Regardless I will be seeking second opinions regarding the situation. Margaux continues to do well at work in her first fundraiser will be tomorrow. Megan and Aaron are doing well and Hazel Bea….. let's just say I miss her.
10/11/2007 1:45:00 PM
There was not much happening yesterday. I had my cyst removed from my left arm. Dr. Dosser can talk your leg off. Georgia and Mindi are fabulous. After that I went to the gym and worked out then had lunch. The afternoon was spent at the office. After work I took Rudy and we walked LaFortune. Margaux came by after work to pick up the Lexus so she could carry all of her purses down town for the TV show this morning. Leanne Taylor gave her a spot to promote her cancer fundraiser.
10/8/2007 2:19:00 PM
It has been almost a month since I updated our family diary. I will remember everything that's been going on but I'll do my best to kind of sum things up. Megan and Aaron are doing well. Hazel Bea is growing like a weed. The kids are really enjoying her. She is talking well and very inquisitive. Margaux just loves her job and is working on her fundraiser which will be on October 24. It is called the Bag Lady Luncheon. She is following in her mother's footsteps raising corporate sponsorships and having great success. I continue to work on a lot of documentation. About two weeks ago I finished documentation for our insurance company. That was a big one to mark off the list. Since I don't have a secretary anymore I spent a couple of days going through bills and paying them, or at least most of them. At Margaux's fundraiser are going to feature Debbie's Sisterhood Ring. With the help of Darryl I have built a display case for the ring as well as her gold ring and her survivor necklace. I had to over-seeded the yard and it is looking good. Rudy continues to do well. Just this weekend he won several more ribbons including a first-place and a Best of Winners. This weekend we go to Enid to see if he can win some more. This weekend he got one point which gives him a total of seven. Friday night is the Breast Impressions Gala. I guess I will attend and see what my chest goes for. I'm at a total loss of 47 pounds and continue to work out. Tomorrow is Margaux's birthday and we were having the Wilson family over. James Avery contacted me and asked permission to feature Debbie's ring in one of their upcoming catalogs. Of course I told them yes. Overall, the last month has been really good.
9/10/2007 4:00:00 PM
The weekend was busy. Margaux left for Stillwater on Friday evening. She's coming home tonight. The concert Friday evening was rained out so no dancing was done. Saturday morning was the normal routine of going to the gym and having some breakfast. Then the OU game came on and it was fun to watch. Saturday evening Jeannie and I went to Stillwater to see the Cowboys play and Sunday was spent doing laundry and giving Rudy a bath. It takes 2 1/2 hours to coif the boy. All in all it was a good weekend. I did receive an e-mail from someone in Illinois to didn't know that Debbie had died yet. That was quite a surprise. And then of course the collection calls went on through the weekend and have continued throughout the day today but Rudy is now wanting to be a lapdog while I'm trying to finish up my work for the day. He's a good boy and very pretty and smells like Pantene Shampoo.
9/6/2007 2:51:00 PM
Yesterday, Wednesday, was a very busy day. At work we're in the middle of converting data from one company to another. I have several people working on it. Right in the middle of the day I received a call from the FBI which required me to spend the afternoon doing more research for them. Late in the day Danny and Sydney came over and we visited about Monavie. It is the latest health food drink on the market. Oprah loves it and I've been doing a lot of research regarding it. Yesterday evening I just stayed home and ate leftovers and watched TV. Today I've been at the office working on this conversion which is very tedious. We will begin switching 27 offices over to their new system starting at 4 p.m. today. I sure hope it goes smooth!
9/4/2007 3:21:00 PM
Friday Margaux went to the lake with Dusty's family. She came on Sunday. Then Sunday evening she went to Stillwater to see Dusty because he wasn't able to go to the lake. He had been in Georgia to go to the OSU game. She got home last night and we had dinner together before she Sutton would home. I did so many things on Sunday I was just exhausted by the time I quit. I mowed the yard, washed two cars, did several loads of laundry, and gave baths to capital Pierre, Sutton, and Rudy. Then I smoked pork tenderloin for dinner. Yesterday I was really lazy and just did some laundry. We did take Rudy for a walk around LaFortune to get little exercise. All in all it was a good weekend.
8/29/2007 3:20:00 PM
Yesterday was all working day. I got to the office early and dove in. I met Margaux for lunch at the Savoy. She was doing really well with her fund-raising for the new event. She follows in her mother's footsteps. Yesterday evening I took Rudy over to Anna’s. He ran with the other dogs. It was beautiful to see all those Irish setters running in their yard. Yesterday evening Rudy and I watched the movie and went to bed.
8/28/2007 2:41:00 PM
Okay, yesterday I worked at the office all day and did not work out as I normally do in the mornings. I did go home for lunch. Margaux brought Sutton over in the late afternoon to go swimming. The pool is now full of golden retriever hair. Margaux and I grilled chicken and corn on the cob and watched Big Love. It was a good day.
8/27/2007 9:03:00 AM
Wow, sometimes it's hard to remember what happened last week or even yesterday. I know Margaux had a good week at work. I went over one evening and helped her hang some more pictures and saw the chairs that were recovered. Everything looks great. I think the only thing we have left to do is move her stereo over. I'm going to have to buy some new speaker wire. My week was pretty typical. We are having to do a lot of programming for a client that was purchased to convert their data in the new company. I started coming down with a cold last week and I am still not over it. In fact yesterday I spent the day in my chair with the exception of going out to mow the yard. I just don't like it when I don't feel well. I didn't talk to Megan over the weekend so I will call her this morning.
8/20/2007 1:29:00 PM
Last week Margaux worked and had a tour of the Cancer Treatment Center. She spent the weekend in Stillwater with Dusty and the boys. On Saturday as she was backing out of the driveway at Dusty's house one of her tires had a blowout. Luckily the boys were around so they got it changed for her. I worked Monday and Tuesday and then drove to Topeka Kansas for a dog show that began on Thursday. Each morning I would be at the show in about 6 a.m. to give Rudy a bath. There were 1100 dogs at the show and only one has to give them baths with. I continue to learn more about showing Rudy and I feel fortunate to have such a good dog. He won for blue ribbons taking first place in his class all four days. On one day he won last male dog, and placed second in the breed. That gave him one more point. He now has five and needs 15 to be a champion. We got home last night around five. It was good to be home and just sit in the back yard. Today I've had a typical day of going to the office, working out, and back to the office.
8/13/2007 1:44:00 PM
Well it is Monday afternoon and another hot day. Last week it's been pretty typical as the weeks go. Margaux is enjoying her job and spent last week in Kansas City for training. I kept Sutton while she was gone. I worked out every day last week and then spent the rest of my time at the office. Megan, Aaron, and Hazel Bea are all doing fine. Aaron got back from his three-week trip on the Colorado River and he had a fantastic time. We really have hit the lazy hazy crazy days of summer.
8/5/2007 8:15:00 AM
Yesterday morning the boys and I woke up early and started the day. By 10 o'clock I had finished washing both the cars. I ran a couple of errands and had a sandwich at Boston deli for lunch. In the afternoon I sprayed the yard for bugs and fertilize the yard. I did spend about an hour and a half in the pool. Not a good place to relax with two dogs in the backyard. Sutton will get in the pool inside 30 seconds. And for the first time I heard a splash and Rudy was swimming toward the deep end. I could tell he was learning to keep water out of his mouth as he choked a little bit as he tried to breathe. He got over that really quickly. So imagine yourself laying on a raft, tired, and just wanting to enjoy a beer in the sunshine and he had two dogs trying to get on the raft with you. Well it was fun. I went to the 430 showing of the Bourghne Ultimatum movie. As I was in line getting my ticket the Teel's came up so we all sat together. I highly recommend the movie. You don't get out of your seat for two hours and it is full of action. After the movie I went to the grocery store and came home. I set out in back and watch the dogs play. We later came in and relatively quickly went to bed.
8/3/2007 9:45:00 PM
Today I went to the office for a while and then off to the gym and then home for lunch. I was back at the office until 3 p.m. when I had to meet the cable Guy. While I waited for him I started doing the yard. He showed up around 330 and had the cable problem fixed within about 30 minutes. All he had to do was tighten some of the connections. I continued working in the yard and didn't get finished until seven or so. I cleaned up and went and had some dinner. By then it was 9:30 p.m. Margaux had dropped Sutton off on our way to Oklahoma City around six o'clock so when I got home I just got the boys and we all went to bed.
8/3/2007 8:52:00 AM
Boy was it hot yesterday! Rudy and I got up around 6 a.m. just like always. I spent the first part of the morning at the office and then went to the health club and worked out with Gina. Then back to the office and then home for lunch. I spent the afternoon at the office. Margaux went to work and came by around 6 p.m. and we moved Debbie’s jewelry case out and took it to Margaux’s house. We loaded up both cars with more of the things Margaux needed before we went. While we unloaded Rudy and Sutton ran in the backyard. From their reading and I went to Utica Square and listened to an acoustic guitarist and her band play. It was still very hot there. We shared a bottle water and enjoyed the music. Lots of people stop by to pet Rudy. There aren’t many Irish setters around anymore. We left the square around eight o’clock and headed home. We had a little dinner and off to bed.
8/1/2007 10:00:00 PM
Today I spent most of the day at the office. Late in the afternoon I picked up Rudy at the breeders and we gave him a bath. I met Margaux, Jim, and Eileen over at Margaux’s rent house. They brought over a doghouse for Sutton. Tonight will be Margaux’s first night in the rent House. Rudy and I then went home and watched a movie and went to bed early. All in all it was a quiet day.
7/31/2007 8:07:00 AM
Ok the family diary hasn't been updated for a month. Being 54 years old I don't really remember everything that's happened over last month. So here are the highlights as I remember them. Margaux has been moving into the rent house. She painted her bedroom and is having two chairs redone. She has two roommates and they are all excited about living together. The House is in a great neighborhood and has a huge backyard for Sutton. I plan on taking Rudy over some so they can play Her job is going exceptionally well and she loves working at the American Cancer Society. I have been working more and more and I am really enjoying it. With all the rain we haven't had to water but have lots of mosquitoes so I have been spraying every week. Of course everyone knows that Roxy died this month and aunt Nevada last month. We weren't able to go on our vacation to Colorado and instead just spent time here. It really worked out well because we needed to move Margaux's furniture home from Stillwater. So we are in the lazy hazy crazy days of summer. Aaron is still on his rafting trip through the Grand Canyon which will last three weeks. We hope that Megan can survive the three weeks alone with Hazel.
6/28/2007 1:21:00 PM
Today I got up at five and left for Oakland city for the dog show. Margaux slept in and I got back in town around noon. Margaux is going to the lake with Dusty and his parents for the weekend. This afternoon I am working at the office and will go to the gym and work out a little later.
6/7/2007 2:58:00 PM
Okay, let's update the Dill family website with what's been going on the last month. Margaux is living at home and loves her job at the American Cancer Society. We have put off looking for it a rental house for a month or so until her possible roommates lease expires. We now have a new family member Rudy. He's been with us for almost a month now. He is a beautiful Irish setter and I will continue to show him. I went to Kansas City three weeks ago where he took three second-place ribbons and one first-place ribbon. His next show will be in Oklahoma City the end of June where he will actually be in four different shows. Rudy and Sutton get along extremely well. Margaux joined a health club and enjoys spin class after work. She and I take turns cooking dinner and sometimes cooked together. She is an exceptional cook. Many people don't know that starting on March 30 we discovered identity thefts in our family. Both Margaux and Debbie had their identities stolen and over the last year amounts exceeding $100,000 were charged or taken. I have spent the last weeks talking to credit card companies, getting copies of statements, sending death certificates, and am trying to find out just how bad the situation is. I know this, it is bad. The yard is fully planted now with flowers and is extremely beautiful. Almost every afternoon or evening I take Rudy for a walk around LaFortune Park. This last Sunday I guess I would have been what you call the officiating minister at church. The real ministers were both out of town and I was asked to fill in. It went well I think. It was music appreciation Sunday so all I had to do was just make sure no big mistakes occurred. On Memorial Day I took flowers to the cemetery. I took Rudy with be and let him run through the cemetery. He had a great time. Margaux has been very involved with her new job learning something new almost everyday. All the stress I have been under has caused my ulcerative colitis to return and the drugs do not appear to be helping.
5/7/2007 2:57:00 PM
It has been almost a month since I last updated any of our diaries. The reason for this is because I had been under a huge amount of stress, more about that later. This last weekend I was a very special weekend. Megan, Aaron, and Hazel flew in last Wednesday night. Margaux graduated from Oklahoma State University on Saturday. It was a very busy day. I smoked ribs on Friday and the rest of the family brought everything else to Stillwater for her party. Margaux was just beaming with joy. She was dressed beautifully and really has enjoyed the last week. Yesterday, we all just sat around the pool and had a great time. It seemed like it every one was here. Shelly and the twins, Vicki and Max, John and Jack, and several other friends came by. Megan did a fabulous job of hosting the afternoon along with her wonderful husband Aaron. Sutton learned how to jump in the pool and we couldn't keep him out it. I went to the dog show on Sunday morning to see Rudy. He didn't win anything here in Tulsa, but he did win a ribbon at the national Irish setter show in Florida last week. This afternoon I am going to go pick up his food and bowls and get ready for him to come home tomorrow. Megan and Aaron flew out at noon today to go back to Denver. Margaux and Dusty just left for Stillwater where Margaux will load up my car and come back tomorrow. Her new job with the American Cancer Society will start next Monday. This week we will be very serious about finding her a rental house for June 1.
4/11/2007 8:10:00 AM
Okay, the last week has been very interesting. As everyone knows last Saturday was the one-year anniversary of Debbie's death. Margaux was in school all week and came home Saturday. I went to Wichita on Friday morning to see Rudy in a dog show. He did not get any points in the show but the judges said he just needs a little more experience. I got home Saturday evening and Margaux and I had dinner. On Sunday morning we went to church and spent the afternoon around the house. Margaux spent the night Sunday night and went home Monday. Megan and Aaron were at home for Easter in Denver.
4/3/2007 7:32:00 AM
Margaux came home Friday evening for the weekend. On Saturday morning we got up and went to a dog show in Claremore. I've been thinking about getting another Irish setter I had decided against it because I did not want to go through puppy training. It just so happened that a local breeder has a dog that is 14 months old and is already been through puppy training. The breeder had the dog because when it was born it had a severe overbite. During its first year of life the overbite corrected itself. Saturday was its first show and "Rudy" won his class. On Sunday he won his class and "best-of-breed". Needless to say I was a little excited about it. Rudy goes to Wichita this weekend for another show and then to Florida for nationals. So I guess I'm going to be a dog owner again. On Saturday afternoon Vicki came over and she and Margaux diligently went through Debbie's clothes and separated a lot of them to go to the resale shop. She stayed for dinner and we had a wonderful time. On Sunday afternoon I washed Margaux's and Debbie's cars. Margaux spent the night and went home Monday morning. Yesterday I trained and worked in the afternoon. Megan and Aaron were on a float trip in Utah over the weekend I will talk to them this morning.
3/29/2007 5:38:00 AM
Last week was spring break for Margaux. She went to the lake for three days and I babysat the dog. Sutton and I had a great time together. Last Saturday Dusty's mother, Becky, and Jennifer came from Oklahoma City and went shopping with Margaux. They spent the day having a great time. On Sunday Margaux and I went to church and met the Drullingers for lunch. Margaux spent Sunday night here at home and went back to school on Monday. This week it's been very busy at work. We have made some major progress in some situations and it's great to feel the relief. Megan and Aaron leave today for a five-day raft trip in Utah. Megan said the water is higher than normal and it's going to be exciting. I plan another big day at the office and my normal workout routine.
3/20/2007 10:00:00 PM
On Sunday I spent the day working in the yard and taking care of Sutton. Margaux went to the lake to spend a few days with friends. Both Monday and today I spent working. Margaux has her second interview tomorrow and we're all very excited for her. Sutton and Pierre were both on the bed this morning that kept their distance. Sutton went to the office today where he had lots of attention.
3/18/2007 7:50:00 AM
Last week was very busy for the family. Margaux had three major tests this week and had to do a lot of studying. She's doing really well in school though. On Tuesday she was interviewed by the American Cancer Society. Three people went to Stillwater to interview her. She has a second interview this week on Wednesday. If she gets the job her responsibilities will be to head up three major fundraisers for the organization in eastern Oklahoma. She's really excited about it and the job will be here in Tulsa. Megan and Aaron spent the week take the house ready to put on the market and actually listed it this week. They are very excited about the possibilities of their second home. I spent the week working a lot.
3/9/2007 7:26:00 AM
Yesterday was a busy day. After working out I had lunch with the Ridells. We met at the Wilder Fork. In the afternoon I met with Ed regarding the settling dad’s estate. Last night I went to a fundraiser for the Brush Creek Ranch. It was held at Southern Hills Country Club. I ran into a lot of people from church and also people involved with other organizations. It was a nice evening.
3/8/2007 7:05:00 AM
More of the usual last three days. Work, work out, lunch, and work. Margaux has a job interview in Tulsa next week. She's doing really well except for her child Sutton. He's just a wonderful puppy and they're doing great. Megan and Aaron got their house painted and are excited about getting it on the market. The warm weather this week has been really great!
3/6/2007 8:47:00 AM
It is Tuesday morning. The last week has been pretty slow will do two things going on in the family. I had my usual days of working out in the morning and working in the afternoon. Last Friday, we party at the gym for three people who share the same birthday. The weekend was spent working around the house and in the yard. Sunday was Hazel birthday. She is now two years old. The fire truck came to her birthday party. That's one fringe benefit of having a daddy fireman. Yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day! Other than going to the gym I worked all day.
2/28/2007 7:09:00 AM
Yesterday was an absolutely beautiful day. I went to Starbucks to welcome Ed back to town. He and his wife Suzanne have been in San Francisco where she underwent several cancer surgeries. After going to the gym I went to the office and the normal lunch with Nicole and back to the office. I met the people from the disaster company at the storage place where they unloaded the rest of the equipment which was taken out of the house after the fire. Then it was back to the office until time to go to the gym again. At 6:30 p.m. I went to a group counseling session where I was the only one who showed up. Margaux Sutton had a normal day at school and Margaux worked the basketball game last night.
2/27/2007 7:28:00 AM
Yesterday was a pretty boring day as they go. Most of my day was spent in the office. I worked out twice and had dinner at Bodeans. I didn’t talk to Margaux but I am sure she had a good day.
2/26/2007 8:00:00 AM
Yesterday Sutton got us up early. I went to Sunday school and Margaux went to the Wilson's for breakfast. We watched a movie on TV and then watched her car. I loaded up about 3:30 p.m. and sent her off to school. I then spent a couple of hours planting pansies in the backyard and then just did my best to enjoy the evening. There's still lots of snow in Denver and Hazel and Megan are having fun in the backyard when I talk to them.
2/25/2007 9:07:00 AM
Friday morning was very typical. The normal routine of returning e-mails, making phone calls, and then off to the gym. Friday afternoon was spent working on websites. Several months ago I put up a site called TheMenInPink.com. I also worked on our family website. Margaux called Friday afternoon late and decided to come home. When she got here we went to voting for dinner and came home and watched TV. Yesterday, Saturday, we went to the Savoy for breakfast. I then went to a 10:30 a.m. yoga class at the gym. After lunch we went to target and then went and saw the movie Breach. It was a really good movie. We didn't get home until 7:30 p.m. we spent the evening watching TV and went to bed around 10 p.m. Sutton and of course slept with us.
2/22/2007 7:51:00 AM
I went to the game on Wednesday night. I came home early because we got beat so bad. But early means 11:30 p.m. I wasn't sleepy so sat outside and had a cigar and a Margarita and went to bed around 1:30 a.m. Yesterday I still woke around 7 a.m. I went to Starbucks hoping to meet everyone but no one was there. Ed's wife is severely ill and is in the St. John's Hospital. She was flown by medivac from San Francisco here after a very difficult surgery regarding her cancer. I went to the office and worked out late in the morning. Nicole and I had lunch and reviewed all the information she obtained during the morning. We've confirmed now the heating and air company did not obtain building permits or have any inspection done when they came out to replace the system which they installed the week Debbie died. We also obtained a copy of the fire marshals report indicating the fire started in the heating and air conditioning system. I spent part the afternoon at the office and then ran some errands. I met a friend for drinks and was home by 6:30 p.m. I fell asleep about 8:30 p.m. in my chair. I woke up about 9:30 p.m. and went to bed. Margaux and Sutton went to Boomer Lake. Sutton actually had to swim to fetch a stick. Megan and I talked yesterday also and she is doing fine. Aaron had been working on the house getting it ready to paint because the weather is so nice there.
2/21/2007 4:26:00 PM
Tuesday I did my normal routine of working working out and lunch. In the afternoon I met with my counselor and then ran errands. Someone found my Merce and turned it in so I went and picked it up at the restaurant. Nothing was taken from it. This made me feel great. Today I slept late, 7 a.m. I got up and worked from home until I went to work out. I then met Bette for lunch and we went to Southwood and picked out some pots. I'm off to Stillwater at about 45 minutes for the game.
2/19/2007 8:00:00 AM
The rest of Saturday was a pretty lazy day for me I watched the OSU basketball game because I didn't know that the time it changed. I ran a couple of errands and came home. Margaux of course was in Stillwater to see the team lose. On their home court yesterday I worked around the house cleaning the inside and working in the yard in the afternoon. What I thought was a fixed vacuum cleaner wasn't fixed and so it's being returned this morning to get repaired. Today is Presidents' Day the like everyone else I'll be working.
2/17/2007 10:32:00 AM
This last week has been very busy. Margaux has been studying very hard. She made a 97 and a 95 on to test this week which is fantastic. She's been working out and of course has Sutton to take care of. I have been really busy at the office and finished a major project yesterday. I even missed a couple workouts because of it. And of course this week was Valentine's Day and the 15th was dad's birthday. Hazel sent Poppa a Valentine and so did Sutton. Last Sunday I spent the day cleaning the house and doing laundry. I was going to go to the OSU game tonight that Margaux just called and told me it starts at 12:30 p.m. So I guess I won't be going to the game. Today is a definite workout day and chores around the house.
2/9/2007 6:10:00 AM
Yesterday I had a busy day. It was a typical day though in that I got up early and work a while and then went to the office. I did my normal routine at the health club and had some lunch. I spent the entire afternoon at the office working. Then I went back to the health club for another hour of cardio. I then met some friends for dinner and came home. Margaux had a good day. She felt good about her tests and Sutton is growing like a weed. Megan and I talked a couple of times and we are making plans for Margaux's graduation.
2/7/2007 7:55:00 PM
Today, has gone pretty much like I thought it would. I did not go to the office today at all. It is the 10 month anniversary of Debbie's death. Margaux studied all morning for the test she had to take this afternoon. I went and got my teeth cleaned and then went and worked out. I then went to the French Hen and had lunch. Then I went to the cemetery and had some private time there. I then went to the nursery and bought a tree from the front yard and three trees for the church. From there I went and had a massage. Then I came home and I am just trying to take it easy for the evening.
2/7/2007 8:06:00 AM
Yesterday was a beautiful day. For the sixth of February it was a warm 70° and the sun was shining. I attended a funeral and worked until the middle of the afternoon. I then took off and went home and wash the car. I set out in the evening and just enjoyed the beautiful weather. Margaux is studying very hard as she has three tests this week. She's doing a magnificent job.
2/6/2007 5:36:00 AM
Yesterday was a pretty typical Monday. I got up and work from home until time to get to the health club. I did my normal 9:30 a.m. cardio for an hour and then worked out with Gina for a second hour. Then it was lunch with Nicole and to the office for part of the afternoon. I then went and got my new jeans measured. After that I went to the funeral home to see Mr. Harp. His funeral will be this morning at 10 o'clock. I then went back to the office and then on to see a Roxie in the nursing home. From there was back to the health club for another hour of cardio. I was then going to the French Inn for a little dinner and ran in to Tony and Rhonda. They have been friends for years. They were with some other people but invited me to have a drink with them. I did have a Margarita and then went home. I didn't talk to Margaux yesterday and Megan and I miss each other on the phone too.
2/5/2007 7:54:00 AM
Well, the last few days have been very eventful. Margaux came home Friday and brought Sutton with her. He has really grown. Sutton and Pierre continue to get to know each other. Pierre has no front claws but he sure can hit us and take a swing at the puppy. The puppy thinks he still playing. We have to watch Sutton because he will play or chew on anything right now. Margaux has trained him to sit and lie down. He is a beautiful dog. Friday night we met Leslie and Whitney King for dinner and had a nice time. Then we came home and watched Grays Anatomy. Saturday morning I got up and worked out. Jeannie and I met for breakfast at the Savoy and then I was off to the Drullinger girls basketball game. It was fun to watch the girls. During the game Margaux suggested I needed to shop for some new jeans. So I am now the proud owner of three pairs of Sevens. Margaux said "welcome to the 90s". Saturday night we went to John's concert with Rebecca Ungerman. It was at the PAC in a theater that seats approximately 1000 people. It was full. We did not know until we saw a program that the performance was being dedicated to Debbie and Rebecca’s mother. There were a lot of tears during the entire performance. Sunday was a day of recovery from the night before. We watched a movie in the morning and then Margaux went to Target. She left for Stillwater in the middle of the afternoon and I took a little nap. We watch the Super Bowl. I was glad to see the Colts win.
1/31/2007 1:45:00 PM
Yesterday was a very busy day at work. All of our clients are trying to get out their 1099s which are due at the end of the month. One of them had some significant problems. We worked until about 11 p.m. We were then too tired to continue so we finish this morning. Margaux had a good day at school and Sutton also had a good day. Marta says he grew over the weekend.
1/30/2007 9:09:00 AM
The last few days have been pretty busy. On Friday, my two sisters, Pam and DeAun came to town to see my aunt Roxie. Pam brought her daughter Andi. They stayed here at the house with me. My cousin Martha Sue also was here in Tulsa. Aunt Roxie is stable now that needs to be in the nursing home. She shares a room with another woman who is also very ill. I stopped by the nursing home for a few minutes each day Jim did not stay long. Margaux was in Indiana for the University of Indiana basketball game. We saw her on TV a couple of times. Saturday night 13 of us went to dinner. We went to Brothers Hooligan. Sunday morning I got up and went to church and Sunday school. After lunch I hung the curtains in the middle bedroom and went to the gym to work out. After that I came home and cleaned house a little. I watched last week's episode of Gray's Anatomy. Monday was pretty typical. I slept all night Sunday night and got up early. I worked a while here at the house and then went to the office. Then my typical off to the gym for my workout and cardio. A working lunch with Nicole and back to the office for a while. I washed Debbie's car and put it in the garage. I also had to meet the heating and air people because there is a small leak in the humidifier. I then went back to the gym for some more cardio about 5:30 p.m. There were so many people there that there was no room in the parking lot and every cardio machine was busy. So I just got my blood pressure taken and visited with some of the staff. They are really kind of my family. Last night I started the chiminao and the patio heater. I sat outside and smoked a cigar and drank a couple margaritas.
1/25/2007 9:13:00 AM
It was nice to have the sun out yesterday. I spent the morning at the office for the most part and was late to my workout. Gina and I did not work out very hard because I was tired. After lunch I got my haircut and a manicure. Then I was back to the office and worked till about 5:45 p.m. Margaux had a good day at school. Today she will be going to Oklahoma City and tomorrow she will fly with Dusty to Indianapolis. They were invited by Calvin Sampson's son to go to an Indiana game. They will be staying with the Sampson's. It should be a fun weekend for her. One of my cousins came to town yesterday to stay with my aunt Roxie. This weekend Carol and Glenn will begin cleaning out her apartment. Jenny is coming in from Fort Collins to help. Pam and DeAun are coming and Saturday to see aunt Roxie too.
1/24/2007 3:46:00 PM
It has been approximately 3 weeks since I last wrote in her diary. Not a great deal has happened in the family. Margaux is back in school and she has Sutton with her. I have continued to finalize things around the house and there is very little to do at this point. The biggest news happened just last week when we had to put aunt Roxie in the hospital. She suffered a stroke last Wednesday. We moved her to a nursing home under hospice care today. We do not know how long she will be with us. We would appreciate prayers for her. I am back at work pretty much full time and I have been very busy. I continue to work it out almost every day and I really enjoy it. Megan and Aaron are doing well and Hazel continues to grow. It is hard to believe she will be two years old in March.
1/8/2007 7:00:00 AM
Well the last month has been very stressful to say the least. Margaux came home from college and we shopped and wrapped presents in our best to make it through the holidays. On Christmas Eve we went to church. We came home and had our traditional corndogs and I made some Santa calls. Sharmi spent the night and we got up the next morning and opened presents. Margaux's main present was her new puppy Sutton. He is a golden retriever. Having him around also made the holidays easier. We then went to Debbie's parents for brunch and then we drove to Norman and spent the night with Dusty's family. The day after Christmas we drove home. We only waited one day to start taking down the Christmas decorations. Margaux and I both wanted to get the holiday over with. Margaux took all the decorations down and boxed them. I helped in the evenings and we had everything put way within two days. Margaux spent New Year's eve in Stillwater. Margaux went back to Stillwater on Saturday because she had a basketball game to work. We loaded my car up with all of her clothes and things for Sutton. Yesterday I spent the day washing cars, mowing the yard to pick up the leaves, and cleaning part of the house. The holidays are over.
12/5/2006 5:50:00 AM
The last few days have been very snowy. But a lot has taken place too. The house is completely decorated for Christmas for this special time of year. Margaux came home and we just kept putting up decorations. The house is absolutely beautiful. I went to Kansas yesterday to Debbie's aunt's funeral. She died suddenly in her sleep last week. Debbie's sister Vicki and her brother David rode with me. We had a great time in the car talking about so many things. I also continue to work more and more and have really enjoyed that time. I also continue to work on dad's estate and would like to have it settled by the end of the year. Nicole has been doing a great deal of work on this as I have been busy doing many other things. It should be another beautiful sunny day today and more snow should melt. Stay warm.
11/27/2006 8:10:00 AM
Yesterday was a busy day. I started the day by cleaning up the house after Thanksgiving. I cleaned the kitchen from top to bottom including mopping the floor. I just really like things to be clean. I then picked up the rest of the house just putting things away and straightening things up. Then I slowly vacuumed the house just to make sure I got everything off of the floor. The next thing I did was put away all of the fall decorations and stored them away in the attic. I then delivered 75 poinsettias to the church and returned some dishes to Vicki's. After that I came home and planted 300 bulbs in the front bed and about 75 pansies. Then I blew the walkways and mowed the yard. By then it was somewhere between 5:30 and six o'clock. It wasn't until that point I realized I hadn't even stopped eat lunch. I decided to go to the store and bought myself a nice steak and a potato. I came and set out with Pete and Carol next door for awhile. I ate my steak and potatoe and enjoyed a nice glass of wine. I fell asleep in my chair and woke up around midnight and took my medicine and the next thing I knew it was morning. Today I will deliver the rest of Margaux's poinsettias and get some more work done.
11/26/2006 12:00:00 PM
The last 18 days have included a variety of events and circumstances in the family. I had a birth Day on November 15. On November 17 I had oral surgery to remove a tooth. Over the next seven months it will be replaced with a single implant. On approximately the first of November I began having symptoms related to colon cancer. Five of my father’s siblings including my father had colon cancer. Although I get regular colonoscopies, my symptoms were not good and the doctor said he was very concerned. Unfortunately I could have the colonoscopy until the 19th of November which was almost 3 weeks away. The colonoscopy showed that I did not have any cancer however I have a relatively serious problem called ulcerated colitis. We are attempting to treat it with the medication and if it does not work I will switch medications. This outbreak was caused by stress ha ha! Margaux got home the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and did a magnificent job preparing for dinner the next day. We had Debbie's family along with my cousin and his wife over to the house. We all had a good time being together that it was obvious that dad and Debbie were not there. Margaux’s poinsettias where delivered and we have begun delivering them. Yesterday we went to the Bedlam game at Stillwater and had a great time. Jeannie went with me and she cheered her Sooners on to victory. She and Denny were pretty good buddies. We had a chili cook-off and Margaux brought a wonderful apple pie. It is now Sunday and I have reclaimed the house. I deep cleaned the kitchen and mopped the floor. I have put away all of the fall decorations and swept the entire house. This afternoon I will deliver poinsettias to the church and maybe plant some pansies in the backyard.
11/8/2006 7:53:00 AM
things have been relatively quiet since dad's funeral. Margaux is back to school and doing extremely well. Aaron has started his new position as a lieutenant and has been moved back to his original fire station near their home in Aurora. Megan's work is going well and Hazel is just an angel. For Halloween she was dressed up and ready to go. I am working more all the time and we are still fighting with the insurance company over money they owe us. Basketball season started and we have had two games in Stillwater. Debbie's headstone was installed the day after dad's funeral and I planted pansies in the urns just yesterday. Life goes on. My cough
10/26/2006 6:50:00 PM
The last two weeks of been extremely busy. I spent the week of the 14th in Florida working with a client. Margaux continues on with their schoolwork and is doing very well. I returned from Florida approximately 3 p.m. on Friday, October 20 and went directly to Montereau to see dad. He was definitely going downhill at this point. Megan and Aaron also flew on Friday night. We in the to Montereau Friday night and we were there until approximately 1 a.m.. We felt like dad was stable and therefore made the decision to go ahead and go to Stillwater on Saturday for the football game. We didn't get home until late on Saturday night. On Sunday morning I got up around 6:15 a.m. and went to check on dad approximately 6 40 5 a.m.. He had had a bad night. Throughout the day Sunday he continued to decline. He eventually passed away at approximately 5:45 p.m.. Monday and Tuesday were pretty normal I think as far as funerals go there was getting dad suit to the funeral home making all the arrangements, paying the bill, and setting visitation. The funeral on Wednesday went without a hitch. It was very patriotic in nature as dad was in the Navy and requested enable him and God Bless America to be sung at his funeral. Yesterday I spent just finalizing everything that needed to be done. The family split up debts last possessions including pictures, jewelry, hats, etc. Today I attended the funeral of the father of a friend and basically spent the rest of the day at home.
10/11/2006 10:00:00 PM
It was another typical family day. Margaux in school, Megan worked, I worked, worked out, took care of Dad, went to a funeral, worked out, had a light dinner and the day was over.
10/10/2006 9:00:00 PM
Today, I got up and straightened up around the house and went to the gym. I took the kids to lunch and then Dusty and I stayed at the house while Margaux and Camber went to Marshalls. They got back around 3:00 and loaded the truck and headed back to Stillwater. I went to the office awhile and then back to the gym. Jeannie and I took some ribs to the folks at Bodeans. We had an appetizer and then went home.
10/9/2006 9:30:00 PM
Today was Margaux's birthday. She is 22 years old. I got up and put the brisket on and fixed Margaux pancakes for breakfast. She loved them. I then went to the gym. At noon, I put the ribs on and we went to the Savoy for lunch. In the afternoon, we just hung out. Dusty's parents arrived around 4:00 and we went to Shelly's for Margaux's party. Several of her close friends came. We enjoyed the evening .I went home around 9:00 and Dusty, Margaux and Camber went out for awhile.
10/8/2006 9:00:00 PM
Today, I spent the day in the garage. I cleaned out the final boxes, painted a new cabinet I built. I also hung the bicycles on the ceiling and swept the floor good. I planted some mums and just kind of straightened up things around the yard. Margaux and Dusty showed up around 5:30 and we went to dinner. We went to the river walk and sat outside. We had a good time.
10/7/2006 9:00:00 PM
Today, I had breakfast and a lazy morning. In the afternoon, I washed Debbie's car and then watched OU get mutilated. I spent the evening with Jeannie. Margaux attended a wedding with Dusty in Dallas and had a gr4eat time.
10/6/2006 9:00:00 PM
Today was another typical day for the family. I went to the gym and worked part of the afternoon. I spent the evening working in the yard. Margaux is on her way to Dallas for a wedding.
10/5/2006 3:10:00 PM
Yesterday I was back working out because my knee had really improved. I had lunch at the Hen and worked the rest of the day. I started the new website and it is up for the discretion of all to see. I have a lot of work to do on it yet, but I will get it done. I also went shopping for a couple more pink shirts. I had dinner at the Hen and went to bed around 11:30. Margaux had a good day at school. Tonight I am going to a wine and cheese thing for breast cancer awareness. Megan had a good time on her trip to Boston. It was mainly business but she got to have some fun too!
10/4/2006 8:17:00 AM
Margaux came home Sunday and we decorated the house for Fall. Margaux did most of it. She did a great job. We went to Target and then to see dad. We went to the fair around 6 PM and walked around, had corndogs, and checked out the livestock and exhibits. We also went by to see Vicky and Max and then home. We watched TV and fell asleep in the den. Monday morning she headed back to Stillwater for her 10:30 AM class. Monday evening I attempted to run Lafortune again and it really hurt my knee. I guess I didn't wait long enough before trying again to let it heal. Yesterday I worked on a new project. I have decided to wear pinks shirts in October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One thing led to another and I have started creating a new web site www.TheMenInPink.com. I should have it up later this week. Today will be another work day.
10/1/2006 5:16:00 AM
I love my first cold drink of Diet Pepsi in the morning. The daily routine continued Thursday and Friday. Up early, work a couple of hours then go to the gym. I then have lunch and work in the afternoon. I then go back to the gym for more cardio. Thursday I watched Greys Anatomy for the first time. It really is an entertaining show. The weather has been so nice. Today begins Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
9/27/2006 10:03:00 AM
The weather has been so beautiful the last two days. The clear, crisp air and blue skies are wonderful. I am spending still more time working and getting ready to do some business travel. I continue my quest to get in shape and started working out three hours a day sometimes. I ran two miles out of 3.2 around LaFortune Park on Monday with Jeannie. I would run some and walk some. I will soon be running the entire way. Workouts with Gina also continue as she raised my weights higher on every machine. While I am out of breath she asks, "Are you getting enough exercise out of this machine?" I am looking forward t going to work out every day. How sick is that? I also record Regis and Kelly every day too! How sick is that? Well they do interact well. Margaux had a big test yesterday an d she thinks she did OK. Megan left for a meeting in Boston for a few days. She is excited to go.
9/25/2006 8:15:00 AM
The last week was pretty boring I guess except for Saturday. We are still fighting with the insurance company and if it wasn't for our agent, I don't know what we would do. We will get it done though. We found more soot in the bedroom area so there will be more cleaning. Dad had a rough week but was better yesterday. Saturday was McDazzle and I went to it. Deb McKasky spoke about Debbie and it was very touching. My car went into the shop and should be ready to pick up today. This week we will continue our insurance fight and I will continue to go to the gym and work more.
9/16/2006 7:39:00 AM
Saturday was The Race for the Cure. Margaux, Dusty and I were joined by other friends and walked in honor of Debbie. We then went to Stillwater for the game. The game was fun and we won. Sunday was a rainy day. Margaux studied for a big test she has and I had a lazy morning, had lunch and worked out. I sat outside with Pete and Carole in the evening.
9/14/2006 6:42:00 AM
The last three days I have spent most of my time preparing information for the insurance company. Nicole and I have to get estimates on curtains, non-cleanable items, having the dining chairs recovered, wallpaper for Margaux's ceiling, etc, etc, etc. This process just takes so much time. I have also been working more and more. We made reservations for next summer to go back to Creede for a week. We set it for July 21, 2007. We also plan to do some backpacking next summer. I got permission to have my car repaired by the other driver's insurance company. It will go into the shop next week. Dad is getting a little weaker each day. The urinary track infection is better, but it took it's toll on his strength. I will go see him in a few minutes and then off to the gym. The afternoon we will try to finish our packet for the insurance company.
9/11/2006 2:48:00 PM
Saturday I aerated the yard and over seeded. That took all day. Saturday night I went to Nicole's for her mother's birthday party. Sunday I took it easy but washed the cars in the PM.
9/8/2006 7:41:00 AM
Most of my time has been spent working on getting my ducks in a row for the insurance company. We found soot in the heating and air system in the back part of the house. It will now have to be replaced. All the clothing will have to be cleaned. We also found soot on Margaux's ceiling, in the stereo equipment in her room and equipment in the master. Margaux is doing well at school and took Dusty out last night for his birthday in Stillwater. Megan had a normal day at work. Dad continues to slowly decline although he is still with it mentally.
9/6/2006 8:55:00 AM
Sunday, I went to a great party. There were lots of nice people, a band, etc. Monday I was really lazy. Watched movies, did some laundry and walked LaFortune park. Yesterday I worked, got estimates for the car damage, and rode my bike twenty miles. Margaux stayed in Stillwater for the weekend and took care of Poke. The weather the last two days has been wonderful. I will try to ride again today.
9/2/2006 11:55:00 PM
Thursday, I had a second restoration company come to the house. There is a disagreement between me and the insurance company regarding whether or not there was soot in mine and Debbie's bedroom as well as Margaux's. Even though we gave the insurance company a bid and they told us to have the painter start painting, they came back sixty days later and refused to pay. Well, I contacted the insurance company's preferred disaster company. They came to the house and found soot on Margaux's ceiling, in every air supply line in the back part of the house, and all over Debbie's portrait and our New Mexico sunset painting. Needless to say, I will be having a "Heart-to-Heart" meeting with the insurance company early next week. Friday, I had someone run into me near 81st and Yale. My car was hit in the left rear quarter panel. The driver gave me his insurance but left before the police got there. The police said they couldn't issue a ticket, but my insurance agent said if his car was behind mine, he would be responsible to avoid the accident. No one was hurt, just my car. Friday night I went to dinner with Jeannie. We met at the health club and have become friends. We had a great dinner and great conversation. Today, I got up and smoked ribs for the OSU tailgate party. T. W. also cooked ribs as well as another family. Well, I won the contest. One of Margaux's close friends, Camber, was my date for the game. We had a great time. Dusty got a new dog, Poke. He is a golden retriever. He is twelve weeks old and is going to be huge. He already is huge. Margaux is dog sitting while Dusty and his friends go hunting.
8/31/2006 7:55:00 AM
The last two days would be boring to read about. I went to the counselor on Tuesday. Other than that, it has been work, work out, work, etc.
8/28/2006 8:21:00 PM
Today was a busy day. I was at the office early, went to work out had an appointment with Julie at Advanced Skin Care Solutions, got a tail light fixed, got my crown glued back in and worked out a second time. Margaux had a busy day in classes. It is evening and I cooked halibut for dinner along with a can of green beans and some left over pasta.
8/28/2006 7:03:00 AM
Happy Birthday Megan! Today I want the world to know how proud I am of you, how much I love you and how grateful I am to have you. You are a wonderful woman, wife and mother. You have succeeded in life areas I could never do. You have a college degree, a PA, and work hard to heal the elderly. You have such great compassion for those you care for. I love the way you love to have fun. I am amazed by you. Thank you for all you do. Thank you for your love.
8/24/2006 9:54:00 AM
Yesterday I was at the office early and worked until I went to the health club. I had a fall at the club. I stepped on a piece of equipment someone had left on the floor. I fell on my back and hip. I wasn't sore until this morning. I will take it easy a couple of days. After lunch It was back to the office for the rest of the day. I had dinner and went to bed around 10:00. Margaux had a good day at school and Megan had a really busy day at work.
8/23/2006 8:57:00 AM
Quiet day yesterday activity wise. I worked out, went to work, worked out again and then went to see dad. He is barely holding his own but death is not eminent. He just continues to get a little weaker, etc.
8/22/2006 7:20:00 AM
Yesterday Margaux started classes at OSU. Her last year of college is beginning. Megan and Hazel went to the zoo. I started the day by seeing dad. He has lost five pounds in two weeks. We had to catheterize him because he has a problem called, retention. I worked out and then to lunch with Nicole. We worked all afternoon, mostly on insurance stuff. I then went to Max's eight year birthday party. We started out at Steak and Shake and then went to the Westfall's for cake. That was the day.
8/21/2006 9:32:00 AM
Where to begin? Friday was Debbie's birthday. Margaux, Dusty and I worked all day getting ready to have a few people over. Nicole, John, Gayle, Allen, Debbie, the Southards, Gina and others brought some of Debbie's favorite foods. There was quite a group of people who came to the party for Debbie. During the afternoon I had to have a meeting with the insurance adjusters. Saturday we had some cleaning to do but basically took the day off. We took naps and watched movies. The Lippoldt's took us to lunch and we drove them through some other parts of Tulsa.
8/17/2006 6:01:00 AM
The last week has been spent finishing the house. The kitchen is finished. I did the floors and didn't like them some I sanded them again and then finished them. We have hung doors, put on kitchen hardware, put drapes in the den, living room and dining room. The trim is around the fireplace, shower curtain is up. The paintings were delivered and hung. The TV equipment arrived and will be hooked up today. The new den table will be delivered tomorrow. The window washer was here yesterday. We had to do a lot of stuff last week because of the way the painter left without installing doors, window hardware, trash, etc. We are almost finished. We still have Debbie's clothes to go through. I guess we will do that today or Saturday. Today I will also do the yard and flowerbeds. I really haven't touched them since the day Debbie died. Well, the house is almost finished.
8/9/2006 6:00:00 PM
Last night went pretty good. I got cable working in the bedroom and kitchen. I waxed floors, did some laundry and had dinner here at home. Margaux is in the middle of rush and Meg is on a river somewhere. I got up at 5:00 AM. I washed my car around 6:00. I worked out hard today with an hour of cardio and an hour workout. Then I went to the office till 1 PM and had lunch at Savoy. Then a haircut, office, picked up samples of fabric for curtains and then home.
8/8/2006 8:55:00 AM
Today was a busy day. I had a call from a client at 7:55 AM and went to the office in a "Ball Cap". On to work out, lunch and then to Montereau to meet with hospice. Dad still has all of his mind, but his body is changing. It is a guess to know how long he will be with us. Margaux is in the middle of rush. Megan is on her float trip. I sealed the wood floors tonight and tried to change a pool light. I will call the pool company tomorrow. I got cable working in the kitchen and bedroom.
8/7/2006 9:41:00 AM
We moved back in the house this last week. Margaux was such a big help. Every box is emptied except Debbie's clothes. We will go through them next weekend. There are still a few things to finish in the house like drapes, fireplace trim, etc. Margaux left last night for Stillwater and rush. I built a cabinet in the garage and got both cars in. Tonight will be the last night at the Double Tree. Today marks the four month anniversary of Debbie's death. Four months to the day we move back in. We are home.
8/1/2006 8:09:00 PM
It was a busy day today. It started with dad calling at midnight and I ended up spending a couple of hours at Montereau. I was too tired to work out today. The electricians spent the entire day in the kitchen and will be back tomorrow. Margaux unpacked more boxes and more boxes and more boxes. Nicole ran errands all day. New cable boxes, the bank, mail, diet Pepsi, whatever, she did it with a glad heart. Margaux and I had dinner at biga. She is off to see her grandfather and take him a chocolate shake. I will have a cigar and sleep in my chair.
7/31/2006 7:00:00 PM
Today started with a visit to the hospital and then to Montereau. Margaux and I worked at the house the rest of the day unpacking boxes. We had boxes everywhere. There re over 300 to empty. We got Debbie’s bed made although I won’t sleep in it for another night or two or three. Bettye came over and helped a good part of the afternoon and she and Margaux kept me busy taking their empty boxes out. I figure we emptied 75 boxes since yesterday so we have much to do. I had Debbie’s car detailed and it is now at the hotel until I get room enough in the garage to get it in. Carol Ann came over and lined shelves in the kitchen. We worked hard all day. Dad made it to Montereau and after dinner Margaux and I went by to see him. My sisters both went home to Wichita today
7/25/2006 2:04:00 PM
The tile was finished in the living room today. The plumbing will be done in the kitchen tomorrow. I will finish the kitchen drawers tonight and start the doors. I brought hospice in for dad at the hospital. He will be in the hospital for 4-11 days. If he has not died by then we will move him somewhere else as the hospital has a limit on palative care days. He continues to grow weaker. DeAun is in town to help with dad. We are still scheduled for Thursday for carpet. We hope to move in starting next week.
7/24/2006 3:51:00 PM
It is Monday afternoon. I haven't written in the diary the last few days because I have been at the hospital with my father. He is very ill and I am the primary family member responsible for his care. The house continues with carpet scheduled for Thursday and start moving in next week.
7/20/2006 8:22:00 AM
Yesterday was a special occasion because I put the first Items back in the kitchen cabinets. I haven’t painted the cabinet doors yet. I will do that in the garage. I am ready for the granite on Friday now. I had several boxes of things the disaster company wouldn’t take, mostly stuff from the kitchen. The first item I pulled out was a list of the children Debbie wanted to have Easter baskets for. I got the boxes empted and went to dinner. I spent the morning at the hospital. Dad has definitely taken another turn health wise. He is 93 years old and things are just wearing out. We cannot drain the fluid around the heart. He will be going to skilled care at Montereau in a day or two. The first items to go in will be Debbie’s phone books. Debbie loved to talk on the phone or anywhere. I miss her printed out list of numbers taped to the inside of the cabinet. The next items to go in will be a gift from my sweet Margaux. She gave me a set of special glasses for Father’s day. They will have a special place. I will then just start opening boxes and getting things put somewhere. Granite on Friday, install appliances on Monday. Tile will be installed around the fireplace tomorrow and carpet next week.
7/19/2006 7:17:00 AM
Yesterday work continued in the kitchen. I finished all shelves. My sister DeAun came over around noon and started cutting in the ceiling. I had to work on the sprinkler system but later helped her some. We quit around 8:00 PM and went to dinner. This morning I put the first coat of Clear coat on the cabinets and will put a second coat on around 9 and a third coat around noon. Then around 2 PM I will start putting a few things back in the kitchen.
7/17/2006 7:12:00 PM
Today I spent most of my time at the house. I did go to work out but had a call from my sister. Dad's heartbeat is better but the cardiologist wants to see how he does with simple tasks like getting out of bed. He will no doubt go to skilled care when he leaves the hospital. We won't take a chance on draining fluid until it is worse. I finished the beams in the ceiling and painted more shelves. The end is in sight!
7/17/2006 7:22:00 AM
The entire weekend was spent at the house working on the kitchen. Margaux was home and did everything from shopping to laundry, planting flowers, an making dad feel better. I love her!. I also love my sister DeAun who worked glazing in the kitchen on Saturday and Sunday. I painted shelves. We are getting closer but have a ways to go.. Dad is still in the hospital and we will be having some decisions to make today or tomorrow. His heart rate is somewhat under control and an echo will be done today.
7/14/2006 10:42:00 AM
Yesterday a lot got done at the house. The carpenter finished the cabinets in the living room. He got the Formica down under the kitchen sink and in Pierre's cabinet. He also started the drawers for the dining room cabinet. We picked out a glaze for the kitchen cabinets and got the primer on all the kitchen cabinet shelves. We had to put dad in the hospital. He has developed A-fib which isn't good considering the congestive heart failure. If we can lower and maintain his heart rate we will try to remove the fluid. There is a problem with that because most of the fluid is behind his heart. He will be in the hospital awhile. DeAun, Margaux, Sharmi, John and I went to dinner and had a great time. So far this morning I have finished priming the shelves (second coat). The new kitchen window is being installed and the carpenter should finish up. I am going to have to get the kitchen finished this weekend. I am off to work out. Margaux is at Vicky's and then will have a session with my trainer. I plan to work at the house most of the afternoon and evening.
7/12/2006 3:24:00 PM
The progress on the house continues. I caulked and sanded all day on Sunday in the kitchen. On Monday I put the first coat of paint. Tuesday I put on the second coat. Tonight I will touch up some caulking and sanding and put on a third coat. I have been at work all day today.
7/10/2006 9:23:00 AM
Saturday I spent going to the gym and then went bicycle shopping for most of the afternoon. I did meet the Steinhoff's at the cemetery because Kim want her wedding flowers to go to Debbie. Friday the house was cleaned and is ready for carpet and tile. I had an early evening and went to bed around 10:00. I did buy a bike and everything to go with it. On Sunday I went riding for an hour or so. It was the "break in" ride. All was well until I couldn't snap out of the pedals at 51st and Lewis when the light changed to RED. I just fell over onto the grass like the old "Laugh In" show. I am sure everyone around enjoyed it. I spent the rest of the day in the kitchen. Everything is sanded and caulked. I will try to put the first coat of paint on today.
7/7/2006 8:44:00 AM
Yesterday I had what I call a normal day. I had coffee (diet Pepsi) with some friends at Starbucks. I then came to the office and then worked out, then lunch and back to the office. I had a meeting with our health insurance agent about getting Margaux on my policy. We actually had two policies (one one Debbie and Margaux and one on me). Stacey hadn't really heard about Debbie and so I shared with her about the whole thing. Then the painter came in. Margaux had a good day going to class and working out. She meets with a personal trainer today. I am off to the gym.
7/5/2006 2:55:00 PM
Saturday, Margaux and I empted the Pod. Margaux cleaned the bathrooms and put some things away in the house. Most of the stuff in the pod was from the garage. I unpacked lots of boxes and arranged items on the shelves in the garage. Sunday, I began working in the kitchen but spent a lot of time cleaning up my car. I am so picky about my car and it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. I think I spent about four hours on it. It isn't perfect but at least relatively clean. Monday was spent in the kitchen and I began removing doors and drawers. Margaux went to the lake on Saturday night I think. We both met at the Briggs yesterday evening for the Sunday school 4th party We ate and then left prior to fireworks. Today, Margaux started her second class for the summer. I worked out and am at the office to work awhile. Then I am off to the house to work in the kitchen.
6/30/2006 3:29:00 PM
It is Friday afternoon. This week I finished painting the garage and cleaned it. The wallpaper went up in the bedroom and entry hall. That's it for the house. Margaux got in around noon and is running errands. The painter has informed me his bid of $23,000 is now going to $30,000 and has stopped work until he is paid. The insurance company is now questioning his total cost and is refusing to pay the total of the original bid. Plain and simple, not a good week.
6/26/2006 9:02:00 PM
Not much happened today. Nothing at the house except I finished cutting in the paint in the garage. Margaux had a good day and Megan and Aaron had a date day at the amusement park in Denver and just being together. My new computer arrived and Nicole was furious it was not configured correctly. She is so special to me. She wants everything to be right.. Margaux is having dinner with the Lippoldts in Stillwater. I had dinner at Bodeans. Going to bed early.
6/25/2006 9:46:00 PM
It is Sunday night. Margaux and I just had dinner with Rob Irwin and his fiancée. The are going to have a baby girl and the baby's middle name will be Margaux after our Margaux. Cool! Margaux came through town on Thursday and went to Dusty's parents lake home on Friday. I spent the weekend in the garage mostly. I am doing the painting out there to save a few bucks. There was nothing done in the house this week. Still at a standstill. I hope for better luck this next week.
6/21/2006 8:34:00 AM
Monday and Tuesday were pretty similar. The house is at a total standstill. The painters are at another job until next week. We can't lay carpet until the tile is in and the tile arrived the wrong color. The paper can't go in until everything else is done. The insurance company decided not to pay for two bedrooms so now I have to. To help reduce costs I am going to do the garage myself. I have spent the last two evenings sanding doors, filling holes, etc. I hope to have the woodwork ready for it's first coat of paint this evening and clean the garage of all dust etc. to get ready to paint tomorrow. The trim is the hardest to do, but it will all look great. We still don't have granite. Some is to arrive tomorrow for me to look at.
6/19/2006 7:47:00 AM
Father's Day was super. Margaux and I took Dad to church and then to lunch. We then met the Lippoldts and saw The Lion King. It was a great musical. We then went to the house where I painted more in the garage while she went to the Wilson's to give Jim his present. She then returned and helped me paint some. She did a good job. We then went to the Drullinger's to give the twins their American Girl Dolls Debbie wanted them to have. Then off to Charleston's for dinner. Margaux headed back to Stillwater about 9:15. I headed to the hotel. The only thing that could have made the day better would have been to have Debbie with us.
6/18/2006 8:05:00 AM
Yesterday I picked out the granite for the kitchen. It is called lapidas. It is lighter shades of beige with some brown and blue tones. I then went and bought paint for the garage. I just found a chip of one I liked and it turned out to be "Silver Mink". It is the same color Debbie picked out for our bedroom. I then went and did my 1.5 hours of cardio. After that I went to the house and spent the rest of the day getting ready to paint and painting part of the garage. Last night the Lippoldts, their friends and Margaux and I went to dinner. We had a really good time. Then home (hotel) for bed.
6/17/2006 9:01:00 AM
It is Saturday morning. This has been a busy week. Margaux is doing well in Stillwater. I went over Thursday afternoon and took her to dinner. We then fertilized her yard, hung ferns, got a sprinkler going and hung two pictures. She got a 94 on her midterm! The kitchen cabinets are finished. We now wait for granite, paint and paper. Nothing else happened in the rest of the house. We still wait for papering in the bedroom, carpet and tile.
6/13/2006 9:15:00 AM
Monday was another busy day at the house. The painters put a prime coat on the kitchen cabinets and sanded in the garage. With the exception of the kitchen and garage the house is finished. We are waiting on carpet for the whole house. Margaux had a good day in Stillwater and Megan and Aaron went white water rafting. I had a good workout with Gina. She
6/11/2006 9:35:00 AM
Yesterday, Margaux continued her stay at the lake. I think the guys like her there because she loves to cook as well as have fun. She reminds me of her mom and Pam. Megan and Aaron planted flowers and then began getting ready for a rafting trip on Monday. I went to the Gym and did 1.5 hours of cardio and then went to the house and worked in the yard. I got some flowers planted in the back yard and will do more today. The living room is finished and the painters moved out until the kitchen is ready to paint. So things are moving along.
6/10/2006 9:50:00 AM
This last week was just a lot more of the same. House is progressing. The carpet will come out on Monday. All painting is done with the exception of the kitchen and garage. We are waiting for cabinet doors and it will take a week. Then a week to paint the kitchen and garage. We also wait to have the paper hung in the guest room and entry. Margaux had a great week in school. Her table and chairs showed up and she is just loving being in Stillwater. I worked out every day and am slowly loosing weight. Megan and Aaron had a good week too and Hazel is our special baby.
6/3/2006 7:15:00 PM
Thursday I took Margaux to Stillwater. Her house is wonderful. It is a three bedroom two bath rental home with about 1600 - 1800 square feet. The carpet is good. Margaux just started in with Pam (Dusty's mom) and put things away, made the bed etcetera. I put together the TV stand and moved things in. Margaux was in her "Debbie Dill" nesting mode. I came home around 8:30 and had dinner. Friday there was much going on again at the house. We continue to see progress, slow, slow progress. Today we went to the twin's birthday party. I made snow cones, took pictures, made snow cones, had a beer, took more pictures, oh and did I tell you I made more snow cones? Margaux and Anna came over to help at the party too. She was also able to pick up her newly painted furniture. Since Anna drove, it all fit in her truck. Thank you Anna!
5/31/2006 9:15:00 PM
Once again I find the need to apologize for not keeping up. Saturday I spent the day working in the yard, cleaning things up. On Sunday I left for the lake around 2:00 PM, I think. I met up with Margaux and the Lippoldts. We went for a boat ride and then had dinner. We ate ribs I smoked on Saturday night. Sunday I left about noon, drove back to Tulsa and went to the cemetery. Margaux came home later in the day. Margaux went to see the twins Monday night and I went to see the McKenna's and had a good visit. The painters worked all day Monday. Yesterday the rest of the kitchen cabinets were torn out and the painters finished the hall and began sanding in the living room. I worked out, ran errands, and I don't really remember what else. Today, the painters finished the hall closet (pink), and got the first coat of paint on the trim in the living room and dining room. The carpenter tore into a kitchen wall so we could get four more inches of space. The electricians showed up and told me the range and oven I chose wouldn't work so I picked out a different one. We had dinner with Debbie's parents and came to the hotel to pack the cars to get Margaux to Stillwater tomorrow.
5/27/2006 7:30:00 AM
It is Saturday morning. First, I apologize for not being as diligent as I should about this diary. I know there are those of you who check each day and I have let you down. The last few days have been grinding at the house. The fence was stained except one side. It is beautiful. There have been major problems with paint. It has caused a slowdown in the process. The den remains the only room finished. Margaux finished picking out the paper. We picked out carpet and it is on order. The heat and air is in and is working well. DUST, DUST, DUST. I am going today to work in the yard after I work out. Margaux is gone to the lake. I will go tomorrow after church. I played golf yesterday and did ok.
5/22/2006 10:00:00 PM
Monday started by letting the contractors in and then to the office. I made several phone calls and headed to the Health Zone for training. I had a quick lunch, and went by the house and then back to the office. Yes, I am working more. I had a great conversation with Jeff Wheeler. Jeff was a client of ours in South Carolina but is really a good friend. I spent most of the afternoon at the office and went to Bodeans for a piece of fish for dinner. I ran into the Skibs who invited me to have dinner with them. It was a wonderful evening.
5/21/2006 8:00:00 PM
Sunday morning we got up and took dad to church. We then went to the country club to have lunch. After lunch Margaux started getting ready to go to Norman. I went back to the health club and rode a bike for an hour. I then went to the garden store and picked up a few things. Mark Southard came by the house for a visit. He is a very special man and a good friend. I had a late dinner and went to bed.
5/20/2006 8:00:00 PM
Saturday. Today we had a very busy day. We had to move to another set of rooms at the hotel because renovation started on the 9th floor of the hotel. Margaux got up and got her stuff ready for the move. I went to the health club and walked fast on the treadmill for an hour and a half. We then moved some of Margaux's clothes home and put them in Debbie's closet as the master bedroom was completed. I installed the Container Store closet in my closet and took some clothes home too! Margaux and Whitney laid out in the back yard for a while and then went to look at some furniture for Margaux's rent house in Stillwater. Saturday night we met the Drullingers at The Melting Pot for a birthday dinner for the twins. I hadn't laughed so hard in years. Those two girls are awesome as well as their parents and grand parents. We ended up bringing the girls to the hotel to spend the night.
5/19/2006 7:16:00 AM
Margaux and I got to Denver just fine on Wednesday. Megan and Hazel Bea met us at the airport. We dropped our luggage at Megan's home and went to eat. What a fun time! Yesterday morning I got up and checked my email. All hell had broken loose at two clients. I had no choice but to get home. There was no space on Frontier and we ended up buying new tickets to Oklahoma City and renting a car to drive to Tulsa. We got back and went to the airport to return the car and pick up ours. We got home (to the Double Tree) around 10:30. Today I will spend trying to straighten out items at work. This is getting really old now.
5/17/2006 8:10:00 AM
Saturday, Margaux got back from the lake. I went to the cemetery to give Debbie the first gardenia bloom. Saturday was a really bad day for me. Sunday we didn't go to church. We met John, Jack and John's parents for lunch. We then met Debbie's family for a movie and dinner. Monday and Tuesday work progressed on the house. The painters sanded all day and the A/C crew was in the attic. This afternoon Margaux and I will fly to Denver for Megan's sister's wedding on Saturday at Fairplay. We will be back on Monday evening. I haven't decided to take my computer or not, but probably will.
5/14/2006 8:40:00 AM
Friday events. Work continued on the house. THE DEN IS DONE! The master bedroom is painted with the exception of the closets. The walls in the guest room are stripped. All electric work is done for now. The AC crew finished putting ducts into the den and continues to work. The new heat pump is ready to test as soon as the rest of the system is in place. There is dust everywhere and the house is really filthy. The yard is beautiful though. Margaux got home from the lake around 4:00 PM Saturday. I washed the car and we went to Boston Deli for dinner. We then delivered a sister ring and went to the Kings home for a visit.
5/12/2006 8:00:00 AM
Yesterday the heat/AC crew started in and made great progress. They will be here a week, put that is OK with us. The last coat of polyurethane went on the den walls and all the painters have to do is to paint the interior of the cabinet doors. The sheet rock is half done in the living room. We had lunch with dad and Shelly. The final coat of paint went on the master bedroom and today they will paint the ceiling and walls. It is really a mess around here. Work continues today.
5/11/2006 7:46:00 AM
Painting progressed yesterday. The wood trim in the master bedroom was done and the first coat of polyurethane went on in the den. Today they hope to do the walls and ceiling in the master bedroom and get the second coat on the den. Steve started sheet rocking the living room wall around the fireplace. Air Assurance showed up with a crew around 3:00 PM and unloaded the replacement air handling unit. They will be back today to get started. I met with attorneys regarding the mess. It definitely looks like a suit will be filed. Last night Margaux and I went to the Junior League of Tulsa for their annual End of Year Meeting which included awards. Debbie was honored with the President's Award. It was such an honor. It was Waterford! We all know how she loved Waterford. The Drullingers came by the hotel afterwards where Margaux ordered room service for the twins. Burgers, fries, and Cokes (their mother wasn't happy about Cokes at 10:00 PM).
5/10/2006 8:05:00 AM
Yesterday the carpenter finished putting in new shelves in the side yard. He also picked up the sheetrock for the living room. The painters sanded and prepped all day. A cabinet company came by to look at the kitchen. Becky brought by more carpet samples. Dust is everywhere. I went to the doctor. My blood pressure is 120/80 with no medication. That is good! Margaux and some of her gang took me to lunch at Chili's and Margaux, Anna and I had dinner at the Bistro. The day was once again busy, busy, busy!
5/8/2006 4:55:00 PM
It has been a long day. A carpenter is finishing the installation of the new posts on the front porch. We had three painters here. A second coat of paint went on the den ceiling and the interior of the cabinets in the den were painted along with the shelves. The paper was removed from Debbie's closet and mine and painting our bedroom will begin tomorrow. The cabinet lady came by to check the kitchen cabinets. The Pella man came by to measure for a new kitchen window. I went to a counseling session. Pierre is gone to the hotel.
5/8/2006 8:10:00 AM
Yesterday Margaux and I got up and went to church. Church is the hardest. I cried most of the service. Just a tear or two every few minutes. We then met the Drullingers for lunch and I worked in the yard for the afternoon. We had dinner at the Grapevine and then went to see Nicole and her tap class perform. Her mother and her sister and it seemed like about 50 other women had the PAC screaming! They were really good. Then home to the hotel for a cookie and then bed.
5/7/2006 7:45:00 AM
Yesterday, Saturday I was up by 5:00. Didn't sleep well. Went to Starbucks and then saw dad. I spent the morning trying to figure out how to arrange my closet. The top rod is Jim Rosenlieb height, NOT mine. I went to KMART and Martha had nothing. I went on line and the container store did so I guess I will order it. I had a bite of lunch and then went to the cemetery. It was my first time. I then went to the hotel to take a nap. Margaux got home around four. I slept until 6:45 and as a result missed going to a wine tasting at Philbrook. Margaux and I went to see Sentinel and then back to the hotel. We shared a salad and then off to bed.
5/6/2006 8:50:00 AM
Yesterday and Thursday work continued. The sanding was finished in the den and a first coat of paint went on the ceiling. We have to wait for a sunny morning to see if it needs another coat. Hopefully Monday. The walls will have to be brushed on. I am very pleased with the quality and professionalism of the painters. The sanding is almost done in mine and Deb's room. It will be painted next. We decided to take out the shoe shelf in both closets in our room. Paint colors were chosen for the wood work in the living room, dining room, and hall. They will be very similar to what we had. We don't want to change Debbie's decorating. She loved her house. I am going to do some work in the garage and put some more stuff in the pod. Margaux finished her finals and we know so far she had to "A"s on finals. What an amazing young woman. I went by the health club this morning and got a list of personal trainers. I will make some calls today. I also have to get more planning done for the house. Margaux comes home today for the month of May.
5/4/2006 8:10:00 AM
OK, three days of updates. On Monday the new heat and air company came in to look at the house and give me an estimate. Their professionalism was completely different than the previous company. They noticed several things about the previous work and I cannot talk about them now. The disaster company continued to pack up the house and started with Margaux's bedroom. I continued to go through closets, drawers, etc in the guestroom and our bedroom. On Tuesday, the electricians were here part of the day. We had two carpenters in to give bids on repairing damage, build a new sofit for heating ducts, etc. We also had a pod delivered to store things the disaster company can't store. I looked at new appliances for the kitchen and counter tops. Becky is here every day and helps with her magic. The painters have started in the den sanding, sanding, sanding and sanding. There were three crews in from the disaster company packing and boxing. I went to dinner with Georgia and Randy to Albert G's and enjoyed them so much. On Wednesday the disaster company came again to hopefully finish. Their moving crew showed up and spent most of the day loading their moving van to take things to storage. The painters sanded and sanded and sanded. Electricians continued to work. The house is basically empty now. I will take Pierre to the hotel tonight. I had dinner at Christi Southards with other friends from church. We had a great meal and conversation.
4/30/2006 10:00:00 PM
Margaux and I spent yesterday and today with Dusty's parents at the lake. It was just what I needed. We played with their grand children, sat on the deck, four wheeled, watched movies and just had great conversation. We ate together as a family and they welcomed myself into theirs. What a great family. We got back into town around 6:30 and cooked steaks prior to Margaux returning to Stillwater. I am going to stay at the house tonight just because it will be the last night for a long time.
4/29/2006 10:50:00 AM
Yesterday the disaster company finished the den. So now we are off to the bedrooms. We got the bid for painting and papering, $22,700.00 not including materials. Nicole had Ultimate out to discuss the installation they did. She wasn't happy! I have had a bad week and went for a massage at 11:00. Then lunch, the attorney's office and insurance office to see death certificates and sign papers. I then went to the hotel and tried to sleep for three hours with little success. Margaux got in around 7:00 PM and we went to dinner with the Blackstocks at 8:30. What special people they are! Becky is on the way over this morning (Saturday). More decisions to make. Then we will go to Lake Eufaula to see Dusty's family for the evening and spend the night.
4/28/2006 10:00:00 AM
Kitchen is finished and now they are moving on to the den. David Steinhoff came by yesterday afternoon and did the yard. It looks fantastic-Thank you! Today feels like it will be a slow day. I don't feel so good. Nicole scheduled me a massage for later this morning and then I think I am just going to take it easy. Will write more later.
4/27/2006 8:19:00 AM
Last night I left the house around 7:30. I had my dirty shirt and shorts on and my tennis shoes. I decided to sneak in the back door of the French Hen. I sat down at the bar and in walks Pete Dosser. He immediately invited me to have dinner with him. He had just picked up Karen and Jo who had just flown in from Paris. It was a real treat to hear about their shopping and eating. Reminded me of Debbie. I slept until 7:45 this morning.
4/26/2006 5:17:00 PM
More sorting, more cleaning, more soot, more bags of trash at the curb. Living room and dinning room are done. Kitchen is almost done. Then the den. Vicky was here for the morning and Nicole for the afternoon. The fence is done. So I have marked it off of Debbie's list. I found someone to refinish the dinning room table and chairs. He will be here tomorrow. John had lunch with Nicole and I. Ethan, Nicole's son also came to the Savoy. I think things are going really slow, but I don't have much choice. Another day is winging down.
4/25/2006 5:50:00 PM
The last two days have been busy. I am sorry I wasn't feeling like writing last night. Yesterday the fence got almost completed. I worked in the garage all day, throwing stuff away, organizing, etc. Then right in the middle of the day I had to get both cars in the garage because it hailed. I then turned my attention to the living room cabinets and was pleased to find Margaux had already done one of them. Vicky came over and went through Debbie's chest of drawers and closet and packed up all of her clothes. She also found a buck or two.. I sat with Pete and Carole awhile and then sat in the backyard before going to get something to eat and then to the hotel. Today, Tuesday started early. The disaster company sent three people over with a computer and spent the entire day logging 300 items in to their program, wrapping them and boxing them up. It all came from the china cabinet. Tomorrow they will do the kitchen and living room. Bettye and Janet came over and helped me go through the bedroom desk, bedroom linen closet, the hall storage closet and Debbie's bathroom. They only found $20.00 and change. We got rid of old drugs, etc., and organized to make Margaux's job easier when we move back in. This afternoon I went and got a massage and then shopped for a special box to put the "Get Well" and "Sympathy" cards. I ended up at Hobby Lobby and found the perfect box. It was decorated with "Paris"! I wrote a note for all those who might open the box in the future and will place it on top before I put it away. The painting contractor came and will have our estimate tomorrow. He said to plan on three or four weeks after he starts which will be next week or the week after. I keep learning new things. The disaster company will not store our wine or paintings not effected by the soot. We found a company that will and they were really nice. They are coming tomorrow. Someone stopped by the house and asked if I wanted to sell it. He and his wife drive by often and want it. I said "Yes". JUST KIDDING!
4/23/2006 5:11:00 PM
This is an easy day to report on. I had a chicken pot pie for breakfast. I spent the morning going through all the cards I hadn't opened and then neatly tied them in bundles with gold ribbon. I am starting a chest for Debbie's memories. It is a terrible time to have to do it. I worked in the garage all afternoon. It was hot! I hope to finished the garage tomorrow. I am going to have my margaritas now and a cigar then I am having dinner with the Ledbetter's tonight.
4/22/2006 10:25:00 PM
I got up this morning and went to see my dad for breakfast. From there, I went to the house and loaded the Jeep and Lexus to take Margaux to Stillwater to finish the semester and be ready to move into her rent house for the summer. We hung out with Dusty, his roommates and friends for awhile and then left to go to the stadium for the spring football scrimmage. We were guests of Dusty's family in a sky box for the scrimmage. We had a great time. I stayed until the fourth quarter and drove home. I am off to the hotel and will have another day tomorrow.
4/21/2006 11:00:00 PM
Our day started early. We were up by 7:00 to get ready for attending the Carnegie Elementary Volunteer Assembly. Debbie was given a special honor. The PTA purchased a dogwood (Debbie's favorite) tree. It will be planted near the front door of the school honoring her for her volunteerism there. She started the Pizza Bingo fund raiser and of course it had a silent auction. Margaux enjoyed seeing her teachers and we had a nice time. By 10:00 am I was at a meeting with the fire marshal, the insurance adjuster and the heat and air company. We met at a warehouse where the equipment was being stored. The fire marshal said once again the fire originated in the equipment. The current plan is for new heat and air to be installed beginning next week. Then I had to rush to the house because the fence guys needed to know how they were to nail the fence. I got them going and then took Margaux to lunch at The Hen. She then ran an errand and I worked around the house. The evening was spent with Margaux wrapping up Debbie's Limoges collection for save keeping and I drank margaritas and smoked a cigar. Mark and Patty stopped by for awhile and we went to the hotel around 10:00.
4/20/2006 8:08:00 PM
It was a busy day today. The window installers showed up about 8:15 AM. They were banging up a storm for a couple of hours but when they left we had two new bathroom windows. The fence guys showed up around noon and installed several more posts. Margaux, Nicole and I worked all day do lots of stuff. Because Margaux needs to move into her rent house in Stillwater June 1st, we needed to get her things separated from everything else. Once the disaster team comes into the house they will pack up everything. Margaux needed bedding, dishes, pots, utensils, glassware, etc. We got that all boxed up and ready to go. We also separated Debbie's T-shirts and we are going to have quilts made of them. Becky came by and Margaux picked out paper for the bathroom, kitchen, and looked at paper for the entry. Around 4:00 PM we were both tired so we went to the den and watched three episodes of BIG. We then loaded up the car with stuff and came to the hotel. We got a Mario's pizza and watched OC. Margaux is talking to Megan. It was a big day.
4/19/2006 9:02:00 PM
I slept relatively well last night. I tossed and turned some. I stayed at the house. Megan, Aaron, Margaux and Hazel Bea stayed at the hotel. The fence company showed up and began doing their thing. Margaux got home around 10:30 but has a definite allergy or cold problem. Megan, Aaron, Hazel and Debbie's parents met us at the Savoy for lunch. After lunch we hung out at the house. The weather was beautiful and Hazel loved the grass. We took them to the airport at 3:00 and came back to the house. Nicole came by as well as Teresa. We went to dinner and are back at home for awhile.
4/18/2006 7:51:00 PM
We all slept in except Hazel Bea who decided to get up around 5:30 AM. Aaron got her up and out so the rest of us could sleep. We had some breakfast around 11:00 AM and then Aaron and I went to the house to get the sprinklers on. We got that done and I then turned on some fans and lay in my chair the rest of the afternoon. I got up around 6:00 and cleaned the kitchen. John, Jack and the kids all went to dinner. I still don't feel well.
4/18/2006 7:39:00 PM
Monday events. Funeral day. Megan, Aaron, Margaux, and Hazel went to see Debbie for the last time. We all had our own private moments with her. We then went to the hotel and got ready for the funeral. It all ran like clockwork. The timing was perfect. It truly was a beautiful service. And was done in "Debbie Dill" style. She touched so many lives. The music was wonderful, .the scripture so apropos. Debbie was honored by Margaux's KKG friends, our family, friends and loved ones. The cemetery service was short. There was little else to say. Laurie sang a beautiful song about Jesus. Scripture was read. We left for the reception. JLT was overflowing with those who loved Debbie. Decorations were perfect. Jane, Claudia, all the JLTs and friends created a remarkable event for the occasion. The red cake was good, strawberries delicious, champagne sparkling. Libby showed a picture collage of Debbie. She had 70 DVDs to give away and they were all gone in minutes. We left the reception and went to the hotel. It was peaceful as Anna, and Camber joined us for a quiet time. Megan and Aaron hot tubbed it. Margaux, Hazel and I went to bed.
4/18/2006 7:33:00 PM
Sunday events: We all got up and went to church. We then met at the hotel to have Easter dinner as a family. I left after salads because I didn't feel good. We went for visitation at 5:00 PM. I had to leave because I was sick. Barry took me to the hotel and I was sick most of the night. It did calm down around 3:00 Am and I got some rest.
4/15/2006 10:06:00 AM
Yesterday was sure a busy day. Things were a buzz. Today, Megan and Margaux are off for manicures. Aaron, Dusty, Hazel and I are going to be at the house for awhile and then will go to the church to do Easter planting. It is something I want to do. This afternoon relatives are coming in to town.
4/14/2006 9:47:00 PM
Much has happened today. Debbie's casket arrived and it is beautiful. I delivered Debbie's gifts to the Pall Bearers. Junior League was full of loving hearts. I had a facial and then a manicure. The off to the funeral home for some time alone with Debbie. We went to dinner with some friends and then came home to pack. I went to the hotel, but came back to get a few more things. I will write more later.
4/13/2006 9:54:00 PM
The day started with a call from the owner of the heating and air company. It seems he was concerned about who was paying his bill. He decided to pull his workers off the job until he knew. He was emphatic it was not his crew or equipment. My adjuster told me that may insurance company was only liable for the damage and not for what caused it. I called my agent, etc.. Then I decided this would end up in court so I needed an expert to inspect the system and determine the cause of the soot. I then called the Tulsa Fire Department. They transferred me to a fire marshal. I told him what had happened and he decided to come to our house. He inspected the system and said there was a fire in the system. He filed a report indicating the fire came from within the system. I then called the heating and air company and they would not come out until they involved their insurance company. I know they did not want to do anything that might admit guilt. Our insurance company had the equipment removed form the sight and They will help me have the house repaired and will then subjugate with the heating and air company. That was most of the day and it was only noon. I had lunch with a dear friend and then arrange to go to a hotel starting tomorrow. I will be out for two or three months as the house is redone. I met friends for drinks and then came home to meet Margaux and Shelly. We had a nice visit and will have another day tomorrow.
4/12/2006 11:51:00 PM
I got up this morning and washed my car for the first time in seven weeks. The heat and air guys came and tore out the old (NEW) system. Margaux and I went to OKC and found a dress at White and Black store. She got shoes too!. We then met the Lippoldt family for dinner and the basketball game. Megan called and said she found a dress too!. Two girls, two dresses, a good day!
4/11/2006 8:58:00 PM
Today began at 7:00 when I had to take Pierre to get groomed. He was covered with the soot. The cleaners came. The heating and air people had to order parts, so we won't be cool for a few days. Because of this we decided to send the furniture to be cleaned. We also had all the art taken to be cleaned and re-matted. The cleaners found residual soot in the brass bedroom and said the entire house will need to be cleaned. On top of this, the carpet cleaners can't get the soot out of the carpet. The Sony guy said the new TV and equipment should be replaced. Margaux shopped all day and can't find a dress. We think we found one in OKC. I fell like Steve Martin in a movie! We went with the Southwards' to dinner and had a great time. Margaux and Camber are off to Drullingers for a few minutes. I am going to relax. Men's get together Thursday at 6:00 at the White Lion. All men who want to come are invited. I will be meeting with the women some where else. JUST KIDDING.
4/11/2006 7:21:00 AM
Yesterday we got up and the west part of the house was covered with soot. Our wonderful insurance agent was here most all of the afternoon. Inspectors came. Friends came to clean. It was too big of a task. A few people came by. We cooked steaks in the evening. Aaron and Dusty washed Deb's car. I went to church. I am really too tired to write. I will try again later.
4/10/2006 10:24:00 PM
The morning started early as I had to take Megan, Aaron and Hazel Bea to the airport at 5:45 AM. I then met our insurance agent at the house. The adjuster arrived around 9:00 AM along with a commercial cleaning company. They started with the ceilings and will continue until they get the house bearable. They will take the couches out tomorrow. The new heating and air will have to be replaced. Computers and new TV, etc will also likely be replaced because the acidic nature of the soot will damage the circuits. We went to lunch around 2 PM with Nicole. I was then off to the funeral home for a meeting and to take Debbie's clothes and Destiny (her wig). Then home for a 4 PM appointment. Margaux and I decided we had to get out. We left and went to the twins T-Ball game and then dinner with the Drullingers. It was a better day.
4/9/2006 12:19:00 AM
Saturday events: I woke around 7:50 and jumped up to go see my father. I spent an hour with him. He was so sad about Debbie and we talked for an hour or so. I then retuned home because Daryl was showing up to fix sheetrock. Bettye and Jim showed up to strip wall paper. I asked Cheri to work on Debbie's obituary and she drove back and forth from Vicky 's as we worked to get it right. The afternoon was spent in meetings working on the plans for Debbie's funeral. Those meetings ended around 6:00 PM. Megan and Aaron arrived around 4:30 with Hazel. Dusty came from Stillwater to be with us and Len and Debbie Ledbetter came by. We had a wonderful evening having one of Debbie's favorite meal, linguini and clam sauce. Jack and John were here and Tyler Boethin. My sister Pam and from Wichita arrived and my dad came for a visit. The house was full. Not only of people but joy and laughter. Shelly, TW and the twins were also here and I must say it was a lively place.
4/8/2006 11:54:00 PM
Friday events: I have tried to be devoted to writing each day, but I did not do so yesterday. I know many family members, friends, and loved ones have been checking the site to keep up with what is going on. I will cover the basics now. On Thursday evening, Vicky came to help by spending the night with Debbie so Margaux and I could get some rest. She made a place to sleep on the floor by Debbie's side so she would not disturb her but could be close by. I took a sleeping pill and went to sleep in my chair. Margaux and Anna stayed up until midnight. Margaux then laid with Debbie until 3:00 AM or so. She then came to the den and slept on the couch. I woke around 4:15 and went to check on Debbie. She appeared to be resting and I returned to the den and went back to sleep. I awoke around 7:10 and checked on Debbie again. She was definitely in trouble. I gave her additional pain medication and some liquid morphine. Vicky called hospice. Within a minute or two the hospice nurse called. She asked what I wanted to do and I told her I knew we were near the end and I wanted told her I wanted Debbie to be comfortable. She told me to put a lorazapam tablet in her mouth. I did as she instructed. Vicky, Margaux and I then stayed with Debbie until 8:00 AM. Vicky also sensed the urgency and wanted her sister Cheri to see Debbie. She left to get Cheri. Margaux and I lay with Debbie and told her she had finished her work for God here on earth and He had plans for her in heaven. We both gave her sweet kisses and she died at approximately 8:15 am. Cheri showed up within about five minutes as we were with Debbie. The hospice nurse arrive in a few minutes and we began preparing the room for Debbie's parents and family to be with her. Kim, our special nurse put Debbie's tuxedo PJs on her and we all worked to make the room perfect as Debbie would have desired. Delores showed up right on schedule at 8:30. She also helped. Debbie loved Delores. We then began calling Debbie's family. The family gathered and each person had the opportunity to have time alone with her. The minister came and we shared a prayer and scripture. The family left and Margaux and I had time alone with her. We then had Kim call the funeral home and they came and got her. Margaux and I escorted Debbie to the coach and kissed again and she left our home for the last time. The rest of the day was filled with friends form the church stopping by, great tears, fellowship and prayers. We celebrated Debbie's life and rejoiced her place in heaven.
4/6/2006 10:50:00 PM
Debbie is comfortable and has been all afternoon and night. She still responds occasionally to whispers in her ear and kisses on her neck and cheek. Vicky continues to take care of her sister and will sleep on the floor next to her to make sure she is OK. It was a quiet afternoon. Margaux has been fabulous as usual. Tracey has spent the afternoon with her and All is quiet and Debbie rests. We lighted Debbie's candle. Cars have driven by all night. The website is full of those who are lighting candles in her honor. It is a blessing.
4/6/2006 5:17:00 PM
Debbie's organs are beginning to shut down. The hospice nurse says three or four days, maybe a week. She has rested peacefully for the whole day. Her mother sat with this morning..
4/6/2006 5:35:00 AM
Cheri is going to stay with Debbie. Nurse leaves. Margaux and I are going to get some rest in the den.
4/6/2006 3:15:00 AM
Our nurse arrives and decides to relieve her bladder. She said she is getting weaker. Margaux and I wait in the den.
4/6/2006 2:40:00 AM
Debbie is restless and needs to go to the bathroom. She is so week she sits down on the floor and lays down. We call the neighbors and family to help us get her up.
4/6/2006 2:00:00 AM
Debbie is restless. We give her pain medication. She also drinks her 3rd glass of water in 6 hours without going to the bathroom. She settles down and we go back to bed
4/5/2006 9:28:00 AM
Well, the day has been long, but much was done. The air-conditioning is fixed. The TVs are installed. Two projects marked off the list. Debbie has had a much better day. She has stayed in bed all day. Both hospice AND the oncologist have been here today. We drew blood for testing to see if there is anything we missed. The house was full of visitors but we only allowed a few people to see her, mainly family. Her blood pressure was normal, but her oxygen was 82 so we added an oxygen supply. It really helped. Pam Lippoldt, Becky Lippoldt, Jax, and of course Ty all came to see Margaux. What a great family. Brooke and Susie Boethin sat on the patio and visited. Sweet Shelly came by late to see us and we laughed as we tried to make a list of her favorites. Debbie sleeps. We go to bed hoping for a good night of sleep.
4/5/2006 7:00:00 AM
Debbie woke up in pain last night around 2:00 AM. Her thinking wasn't clear. It was 7 hours early for her next dose of medication. We called hospice and they suggested an alternative. Debbie wouldn't take it and just wanted to rest so that is what we did. Around
